In October there was Ganesha festival – a grand celebration for most of the Indians. We buy an idol of Ganesha, perform pooja and do visarjan (Dip him in water to send him back to his world). I decided to have a workshop on “DIY Ganesha” with clay this season. (Do It Yourself Ganesha) Clay workshop was awesome with kids.
We used a nice texture clay which we use it for planting. So after visarjan they could use the clay for pots. It was a good start with 4 kids this workshop. Main objective was to teach kids how the Ganesha idol is prepared. In my workshop moulds were not used. It was a big chunk of clay shaped to Ganesha as the kids desired.
Working with kids is fun. We learn more than teaching them. At the end kids enjoy making it is all that matters. I was Happy too 🙂
